BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 1 – Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedow met with Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, as reported by the Turkmenistan State News Agency (TDH).

The meeting focused on exploring new opportunities to enhance their energy collaboration.

Key topics included transporting Turkmen gas to Turkey and Europe, and constructing a power plant on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea. President Berdimuhamedow reiterated Turkmenistan’s commitment to continued energy cooperation with Turkey, emphasizing their longstanding ties and mutual trust.

Special attention was given to the potential involvement of Turkish companies in developing Turkmenistan’s fuel and energy sector, mining, transportation and communications, agriculture, and investments.

President Berdimuhamedow highlighted Turkey’s leading role in Turkmenistan’s foreign trade and the significant opportunities to strengthen bilateral and regional relations.

The discussion also covered documents signed in March, including the “Declaration of Intent on Cooperation in the Field of Hydrocarbon Resources” and the “Memorandum of Mutual Cooperation on the Development of Partnership in the Field of Natural Gas.” These agreements provide a legal basis for expanding bilateral cooperation in the oil and gas sector, according to TDH.
