Yıldızlar SSS Holding has started working to build a new ferrochrome plant in Elazığ,Turkey. The company plans to lay foundation for the chrome concentrate plant in the second half of 2019. In 5 year period to come, the company plans to create total of 4000 employment with two separate ferrochrome plants. The plants are planning to have capacities of 125 tons/year and 300 tons/year.
Nesko Madencilik, a subsidiary of the Yıldızlar SSS Holding, General Manager, Baki Ocak, Chrome Operations General Manager, Sami Tolan, and Eti Gümüs AŞ General Manager,Atakan Altan held a press conference and shared information about their new investment with the public.
Stating the company has mining operations in different provinces of Turkey, Nesko Mines General Manager Baki Ocak said: “We have already a copper plant in Elazig. In this region, where we will invest, we have identified a chromium reserve. First of all, we are here to contribute these underground resources to Elazığ’s and national economy. Currently, our projects and investments are ready. We will start working in the second half of 2019. We will quickly try to increase our employment and create a new value new.”
Emphasizing they are continuing their mining activities in an area of 12 thousand hectares in Elazığ, Chrome Operation General Manager Sami Tolan stated that. “Half of this area contains copper and the other half contains chrome. The drilling data obtained from the field, was quite positive. We will continue our drillings this year. We will establish a chrome concentrate plant with a production capacity of 54 thousand tons/month (648 thousand tons/year) in the village of Örtülü, Maden district. We are planning to produce 83,000 tons of chrome concentrate annually. “
Indicating that as company, they have 22 mining licenses in Turkey Tolan added: “Each of these licenses have operation license or was applied for operation license. Our work in the field of license was very positive. In this sense, we have prepared two separate ferrochrome plant projects with a capacity of 125 thousand tons/year and 300 thousand tons/year. The plant having 125 thousand tons of capacity is planned building with the China and the other plant having 300 thousand tons of capacity is planned to do with the Finland. This means 700 thousand tons of raw material processing per year. Keeping our natural resources in the country and preventing to be sold as a raw material is very important to us. With this project, we will provide a serious added value to the country. Our goal in Elazığ is to realize the project having 300 thousand tons of production capacity. We will provide employment to 4 thousand people including the personnel to be worked in mines. We will contribute $13.5 billion dollar to the national economy end of thirty years.”
