Mining exports of Turkey increased by 47.96 percent to $4.38 billion in the first nine months of 2021 compared to same period of previous year.
Metallic ore exports increased by 76 percent compared to same period of previous year and recorded as $1.63 billion in the first nine months of 2021. In first nine months, metallic ore exports took top spots in mining exports. While processed natural stone exports and industrial mineral shipments second and third with $941 million and $794.2 million, respectively.
Directly employing 138,000 people, Turkish mining industry is responsible nearly 3 percent of Turkey’s overall exports.
Turkey produces 650 types of marble and 150 other types of natural stone and approx. 80 of the world’s commercial mining products are being extracted at Turkish quarries.
In first nine month of 2021, China increased its imports from Turkey by 45.2 percent and was again become the largest importer of Turkish mining products with $1.29 billion. The United States and Spain followed China with $419 million and $210 million mining exports, respectively.
