General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration (MTA) under the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey and the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Geology and Mineral Resources signed an agreement on geological exploration and pilot production at Sarytau, Khurob and Aydym-Djetimuu fields. The fields are considered to be prospective areas for tungsten and gold.
According to Anadolu Agency, the delegation, headed by Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Mithat Cansız, met with Babur Islamov, the President of the State Committee on Geology and Mineral Resources in Uzbekistan, to discuss the cooperation issues between the parties.
At the meeting, the development of relations between the two countries in the field of mining and Turkey’s participation to mineral exploration activities in Uzbekistan were evaluated. In addition, the parties agreed to further develop cooperation in these areas.
In accordance with the agreement, the parties will prepare an integrated technical and economic calculations with a description of the planned field work.
Within the 3 project areas, aerogeophysical work, remote sensing, geochemical analysis of samples, geochemical prospecting, map-compositioning, drilling will be carried out.
According to the results of the first stage of the project, the Program of work and Budget for the next stages of work will be developed and approved by the parties.
Turkey, aiming to conduct mineral exploration on international stage, had taken the first step by establishing the MTA Company Limited in Sudan. An agreement was signed on the search for gold in two different fields In Sudan. It is planned to start operation phase after three years of operation. Within the scope of the agreement, Turkey will be searched for about 325 square kilometers of land in Sudan.
