Avesoro Resources that started its operation under the roof of MNG Holding in last year, is keep operating in mining in Liberia and Burkina Faso. Serhat Umurhan, CEO of Avesoro Resources, said that they are running two mines in Liberia and Turkish companies has a big role in mining sector of Liberia. Umurhan giving information to AA about operations the run in Liberia made a statement that now we are running two mines in Liberia, in this sense, we can say that mine of Liberia is taken out by Turks, in first 6 months of 2017, we produced 120 thousand ounce gold in total in mines, one is in Burkina Faso and two are in Liberia, with this amount, we produced gold taking 150 million dollar. He emphasized that they started their first project in Liberia in 2014, they completed their all preparations in a year and they started mining construction in second year, and Turkish engineers had a great effort on it. Umurhan said that our gold mines in Liberia are projects that were completely designed by Turkish engineers and its construction was done by both Turkish and Liberian teams.
Avesoro Resources, recently published 2. Quarter report of 2017 for New Liberty Mine where it operates, expressed that its production in the mine reached 15.824 ounce by having %6 increase comparing with previous quarter. With this reached amount, it was stated that there is no change in 2017 production aim that the company determined as 90.000-100.00 ounce and plan is followed appropriately. In addition to that, Avesoro stated that a record was reached with %97 in June in terms of productivity of facility while evaluating performance of facility as stable.
In addition to these, while it was stated that works for a new production plan were started to change the span of life of New Liberty mine and for optimization of mine operation, Serhat Umurhan, while making statements about New Liberty mine that is attracting attention with its successful performance, said that I am glad from the performance we did in operating New Liberty mine, increased production amount of ours is a proof of this situation, after we took the control of the company, thanks to modifications we did, our ore processing facility now is operating over designed production amount. By arrival of our drilling tower which is on the way now, our facility will grow, as it was spoken before, gold production in 2017 will start increasing in second half of the year, we keep moving on the way to meet our 2017 production aim which is 90.000-100.000 ons. Umurhan who also talked about difficult conditions our country has, mentioned that they are having trouble to supply spare parts because Liberia is too far from needed materials, and tropical climate is negatively affecting mining sector. Umurhan said that you have to explore mining in virgin forests in Liberia. Umurhan who stated that he is considering Liberia as his second country said that we constructed schools, hospitals, highways, police stations for Liberians, we constructed hundreds of houses for people, we help people who lost their homes, we are having some assistances as food aid, salary payments of teachers and we supply medical materials to hospitals, before they arrive, we reach them. Umurhan also added that Turkey should open embassy in Liberia and Turkish Airlines (THY) should start direct flights to Liberia.
