The 5th Term Joint Economic Commission Meeting between Turkey and Nigeria was held in Ankara under the co-chairmanship of Energy and Natural Resources Minister of Turkey, Fatih Dönmez and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Nigeria Zubariu Dada. In his speech at the meeting, Dönmez noted that the meetings were productive and the importance of solidarity and cooperation between the two countries was emphasized.

Sharing that they had the opportunity to review investment opportunities as well as existing commercial and economic relations, and that they exchanged views on developing bilateral trade and improving the investment environment, Dönmez stated that they discussed cooperation opportunities in the fields of industry and technology, agriculture, transportation, health, education, culture and tourism, youth and sports, especially in energy and mining.

Noting that the trade volume between Turkey and Nigeria reached 2 billion dollars in 2020, Dönmez used the following sentences about the work to be carried out with Nigeria in the upcoming period: “We identified the areas of work to be carried out for cooperation in the upcoming period, exchanged ideas on what we can do about them, and started preparations.”
