General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration (MTA) and the General Directorate of Turkey Coal Enterprises (TKİ) and General Directorate of Combating Desertification and Erosion (ÇEM) signed a cooperation protocol.

According to the agreement institutions will carry out studies on Turkey’s leonardite resources/potential and leonhardite the quality and features.

Within the scope of the protocol, institutions will also look into the cooperation opportunities on fighting desertification and erosion, assessment and screening of other potential projects and services.

  • Aims of the protocol are listed as below:
  • Investigation of leonhardite resources / reserves with soil regulation and improvement potential
  • Literature and inventory compilation
  • Surveys in large leonhardite reserves in the country including TKI’s licences
  • Sampling and reserve studies
  • Providing maximum contribution to the national economy by developing information service, technological information and processes in the field of test and analysis services
  • Fighting desertification and erosion
  • minimizing degraded, desertified and / or erosion soils and creating awareness of the recovery of these areas
